Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of the Denkard website and its resources.
Last updated October 2, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of denkard.ca and the resources, calendar, and community features it provides ("Denkard," "the site," "we," "us"). Denkard is a University of Toronto life-sciences club. By creating an account or otherwise using the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Eligibility & Your Account
- Denkard is built for the University of Toronto community. Anyone can create an account and take part in Denkard Games. Study resources and full event details are for verified UofT students: they require a verified UofT email address (@utoronto.ca or @mail.utoronto.ca). Without one, you'll see previews.
- Only verify a UofT email address that belongs to you. We may remove a verification that doesn't.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Please use accurate account information, and keep your account email reachable, since we use it for verification and important notices.
- If you believe your account has been compromised, tell us right away at denkarduoft@gmail.com.
2. Fair Use of Resources
- Resources in the Denkard library (notes, worksheets, practice materials, and similar) are made available for your own personal, non-commercial, academic use as a Denkard member. Downloading a resource gives you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for your own studying. It doesn't transfer ownership of it to you (see Section 3).
- Please don't redistribute, republish, resell, or mass-share resources outside the club (for example, posting them publicly, uploading them to other note-sharing sites or services, or bulk-sharing them with people outside Denkard) without our prior written permission.
- Please don't use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to bulk-download the library.
- We may add, edit, or remove resources at any time, and may restrict or revoke a specific account's access if we believe it's being misused.
3. Ownership & Intellectual Property
- Resources on Denkard are owned by Denkard, by the students and volunteers who created them, or by their original authors, and are protected by copyright. Nothing in these Terms transfers that ownership to you; see Section 2 for what you're licensed to do with them.
- If you contribute or upload material (notes, past coursework, etc.), you confirm that you have the right to share it, and you grant Denkard a license to host, reproduce, and distribute it to other members through the site for the purposes described in these Terms. You keep whatever ownership rights you already had in what you contributed.
- The Denkard name, logo, and site design are also our property, so please don't use them without our permission.
- If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, contact us at denkarduoft@gmail.com and we'll look into it.
4. Accuracy: Please Double-Check Important Things
- Denkard resources are created and curated largely by student volunteers. We do our best to keep them accurate and useful, but we're not perfect, and course content, exam formats, and syllabi change from term to term.
- Resources are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, and are not official University of Toronto course materials or a substitute for them.
- Always verify anything that actually matters (deadlines, exam content or format, syllabus requirements, official readings) against your course syllabus, your instructor, or official UofT sources. Don't rely solely on a Denkard resource for anything that could affect your grade or academic standing.
- Denkard isn't liable for outcomes resulting from errors, omissions, or outdated information in any resource on the site.
5. Academic Integrity
Academic integrity matters a great deal to us. Denkard resources exist to support your learning, not to replace your own work or to be used in a way that violates your course's rules or the University's policies.
- Everything in the library is meant to comply with the University of Toronto's Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters, and we expect the same standard from every member using it.
- It's your responsibility to make sure your own use of any resource (studying from it, citing it, sharing it with a classmate) is permitted by your instructor and consistent with the Code. For example: don't use a Denkard resource as unauthorized aid during a test or assessment, and don't submit someone else's work, or a Denkard resource, as your own.
- If a resource is brought to our attention as improperly sourced, or as encouraging or enabling academic misconduct, we'll remove it, and may restrict the account that shared it.
- If you're ever unsure whether a particular use is allowed, check with your instructor first. The Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters governs your coursework, not us.
6. Prohibited Conduct
- Don't upload or share anything you don't have the rights to, anything that infringes someone else's copyright, or anything that violates UofT policy or the law.
- Don't harass, impersonate, or misrepresent yourself as another person, club, or UofT department.
- Don't attempt to bypass access controls, scrape the site at scale, probe it for vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with its normal operation.
- Don't create multiple accounts to get around a restriction we've placed on your access.
7. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the site, or to specific resources, if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms, misused club resources, or compromised the club's or another member's security. Where practical, we'll try to explain why. You can stop using the site, or permanently delete your account, at any time from your Account & Privacy page; see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that removes.
8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
- The site and its resources are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, Denkard and its executives and volunteers aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including academic outcomes) arising from your use of the site or its resources.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that can't be limited under applicable law.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the club and site evolve. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
